St. Bakhita’s Youth Centre
The Youth Centre was created to provide a safe and alcohol-free space for the youths in Mazabuka. The centre was opened in April 2010 to provide space for workshops, recreation activities and counselling services for the youths. A Mercy Sister offers one-to-one counselling at the centre and is overall manager.
The centre provides a safe alcohol free environment for youths from the locality from the age of 10 to 25 years. The hall has space for meetings and training workshops. It also has a pool table, table tennis/ping pong, draughts, mini soccer and movie nights every Friday .The centre also has a gym and a library with two thousand books.

St. Bakhita’s Association works with international partners i.e. ABC ZAMBIA, Diocese of Milan and SERVE Ireland. The latter provides youth leadership training for the youths who volunteer and run the centre. (www.serve.ie) (www.youthlink.org.uk)

The St. Bakhita Youth Centre has run several programs with SERVE IRELAND and YOUTH LINK i.e. youth leadership training and youth work training respectively.
