The first seeds of the Circle of Mercy were sown in Co Meath in 1999, in response to the Chapter’s call to explore new life. The vision was to find a way of sharing Catherine McAuley’s charism with lay people. Today, in a number of Circles across the province, groups of women and men from various walks of life come together locally in mutual support, prayer and compassionate service according to the spirit of Catherine McAuley. A gifted author among the founding members continues to fan the spark kindled by Catherine in Baggot Street nearly two centuries ago.
