Parish/Diocesan Work

Minister of the Eucharist

Sisters act as Ministers of the Eucharist. Bringing the Eucharist to the sick and those confined to their homes is a generous and compassionate contribution and helps individuals to feel that they are at the heart of the parish rather than on the periphery.

Diocesan and Parish Pastoral Council

Sisters serve on Parish and Diocesan Pastoral Councils and play their part in the running of the parishes and the diocese.  The role of the Parish Pastoral Council is to assist the clergy in the activities of the parish and to act in an advisory capacity to them.

The Diocesan Council performs a similar role, but at diocesan level. It liaises with the parish council and the bishop ensuring that each is aware of the thinking process of the other. www.kilmorediocese.ie

Pre-Sacramental Programmes

Sisters are involved in organising and running programmes which deepen the faith of the parents and help them prepare their children for the sacraments.

Parish Liturgy Group

Some of the Sisters serve on Liturgy groups. With other members of the Parish, they help to promote understanding of the liturgy and plan for greater participation in the life of the Church.

Altar Society

Sisters assist in maintaining the altar and sanctuary of their Parish Churches. They take care of arranging flowers and decorating the Church for special occasions.

As members of the Apostolic Society, Sisters are involved in making vestments and altar linens for missionaries throughout the world. They also provide funds to buy Mass kits etc.
