Rosebank Convent is situated in a wealthy suburb of Johannesburg. Here the Sisters run a preschool, a primary school and a high school for children of the local area and the surrounding townships. Outreach efforts from Rosebank schools touch the lives of people from many informal settlements in and around Johannesburg.
One of the community members travels each morning to Orange Farm, a settlement south of Johannesburg, from where she directs the HIV/AIDS clinic. She also co-ordinates the programme for the orphans and vulnerable children.
Another of the Sisters conducts workshops on the ‘Personnalité et Relations Humaines’ – PRH programme with all those involved in the ministries connected with Rosebank.
A shelter for homeless people is located in the grounds of the complex and a large number of people avail of its facilities each night.
Two American Sisters of Mercy are at present living with the Rosebank community and working with the Jesuit Refugee Services.
