Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy

Greetings

Welcome to the website of the Sisters of Mercy – as we say in Irish ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’.

My name is Sr. Miriam Kerrisk. I am Leader of this Congregation. I hope that as you browse the website you will be inspired, enthused and hopefully challenged by the various expressions of Mercy that you meet and become aware of our constant desire to reinterpret the call of Mercy today.

The Sisters of Mercy were founded in Dublin by Catherine McAuley in 1831. Our founding call is to bring God’s compassionate love to the world.

We take this call very seriously and today our Sisters work throughout provinces in Ireland, South Africa, Kenya and the United States and in many other parts of the world. You will see them as you make your way through the website.

The Sisters of Mercy work in places of great poverty and need. We continue to interpret the call of Mercy and our own desire is to make a difference in the lives of people, especially those who are struggling for all kinds of reasons.

We do that in the recognition of our own struggle to be faithful to the call of Mercy.

We work more and more in collaboration with others as we seek to alleviate poverty in all its forms.

We wish God’s blessing on you and may you be blessed in whatever way you need it most.
