July 30th every year is observed as the International Day of Friendship per declaration of the United Nations. It is also known as World Friendship Day. The declaration recognizes the significant role friendship plays in promoting peace among peoples of diverse cultures. It is also based on the idea that friendship among peoples, countries, and cultures can inspire peace efforts and can help build bridges between communities. With this declaration, the United Nations, on July 30th every year, encourages governments, organizations, and communities to conduct or hold events, and activities that will promote solidarity, mutual understanding, and reconciliation. It encourages the involvement of all people, especially the youth who are considered our future leaders, in activities with people of different cultures thereby promoting international understanding and respect for diversity.
