Sr. Margaret Kiely was asked by the leadership of the Sisters of Mercy, (Cork,) to establish a residential treatment centre for persons suffering from alcohol, drugs and gambling addictions. Tabor Lodge was established in 1989.

Tabor Lodge Addiction Treatment Centre

Today, Tabor Group is a leading provider of residential addiction treatment services in Ireland, providing support and care to hundreds of clients each year suffering from addictions to alcohol, substances, gambling and food.  Tabor Lodge, their primary residential addiction treatment centre, offers 28 and 42-day treatment programmes.  Treatment at Tabor Lodge is available to men and women over 18 years of age.

Tabor Fellowship is their secondary residential addiction treatment centre.  The aim of the programme at Tabor Fellowship is to build on and consolidate the work of the recovery programme which has already begun in a primary residential addiction treatment centre.  The programme emphasises personal responsibility, peer support, lifestyle changes and participation in the Twelve Step Model.

Fellowship House

Tabor Group’s Family Support Programme provides support for families and loved ones of individuals with addiction.  The types of supports provided include education, one-to-one support, peer support groups, telephone support and intervention advice.

Following completion of residential episode, Tabor Group offer a Continuing Care Programme. This provides treatment and support to clients while learning to cope with the demands of day-to-day living.  It involves participation in a weekly group meeting and commitment to an individualised care plan over twelve months, with an option to continue this for a second year of support.
