MECPATHS meets with Minister Foley

A meeting with Minister Norma Foley (Children, Disability and Equality) marked a milestone moment for MECPATHS who have been working to counter Child Trafficking since 2013.

Meeting in Government buildings, MECPATHS expressed concerns on the issue of Child Trafficking, particularly in relation to Ireland’s low detection rates of victims.

Minister Foley thanked MECPATHS for the work that has been carried out over the past 13 years and recognised the innovative foresight of The Congregation of The Sisters of Mercy in addressing the issue. The Minister was hopeful that The Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration would also welcome a meeting and opportunity to discuss the growing trend of child exploitation in Ireland.
