Laudato Si’ Week, 17 -24 May, 2026

May 24th marks the eleventh anniversary of  the publishing of Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical (letter) Laudato Si. This encyclical, addressed to all people of good will, devoted entirely to the climate crisis and its impact was – and is – groundbreaking.

Laudato Si’ Week, the annual 8-day campaign  to commemorate the encyclical, is celebrated this year from 17-24 May. With its theme “From Hope to Action”, it is an invitation to deepen our understanding of  Laudato Si’, an opportunity to join with like-minded persons to listen and respond to the “cry of earth and the cry of the poor” and an encouragement to intensify our efforts to care for our common home. We are invited to pray, reflect and act – in small or big ways – this week to make a difference for people and planet.

Resources have been made available here on the Laudato Si’ Week and the Laudato Si’ Movement websites to help us do this.

The Columbans have suggested 6 simple actions ranging from turning off lights to shopping locally.
