Plastic Free July

Plastic free July is a global movement inviting people around the world to be part of the solution to the critical problem of plastic pollution.

This year’s campaign slogan is “Small steps, big difference”. Every action we take to reducing plastic waste, big or small, is part of the solution to ending plastic pollution, leading to cleaner streets, oceans, and communities.

Last month, Ministers and representatives from over 95 countries called for a Global Plastic Treaty at the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France. Over 8 million tons of plastic waste end upo in the oceans each year, most of which do not break down.

We can all reduce our plastic footprint by choosing to refuse single-use plastics and choosing eco-friendly products in their place.

This Guide to Recycling Plastics describes what plastics can and cannot be recycled, and what materials they will be recycled into.
