Today, 5th June, is World Environment Day. This year’s focus calls for collective action to tackle plastic pollution.
Plastic pollution permeates every corner of the planet—even in our bodies in the form of microplastics, small plastic pieces less than five millimetres long.
This year’s World Environment Day comes exactly two months before countries meet again to continue negotiating a global treaty to end plastic pollution.
Sisters of Mercy, committed to addressing “the cry of Earth and the cry of the Poor”, seek solutions to the environmental challenges faced by the planet, humans and other species. This commitment includes reusing, recycling and reducing our plastic footprint.
