Rest In Peace Pope Francis

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Pope Francis on Monday 21st April 2025.  His warm personality and embracing smile was loved the whole world over.

We would like to take a moment to think of the time that Pope Francis visited us in Ireland and what a celebration it was!

Some Sisters were lucky enough to attend mass in the Pheonix Park, Knock and Croke Park.  Some even went to see him travelling down O’Connell Street.  Sisters celebrated in their homes with special meals and watched all the events unfold on television.  Everybody was in great spirits and could feel the energy and goodness that Pope Francis inspired!

During the Year of Mercy, Sisters went to Rome and attended the Grand Papal Audience.  Little did they know when they set off to Rome that they would have the chance to chat with him and explain that they were Sisters of Mercy celebrating their Golden Jubilee!  He spoke to them and blessed them – it was a profound experience and one that they will talk about for years to come.
