Exaltation Of The Holy Cross – September 14th

This special day speaks to our lives and pours strength and hope into the darkest hour.

Tradition holds that St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, discovered the true cross in Jerusalem.

As we behold the Christ on the cross we see the transformation of suffering and the infinity of life.

Today we gaze in awesome wonder, into the depths of love, mercy, sacrifice and compassion.

The cross draws us into profound union with God. It reveals the heart of God in human flesh.

On the cross the divine and human merge in a unity mutual partnership, bringing hope and light into the weight of the wood.

The Lessons from the cross, though learned in tears, are our greatest lessons:

Life is eternal

Love will go on

Darkness will never overcome

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
