Extracted from an article by Austin Ivereigh published in The Tablet on February 3rd, 2024

Extracts:

The Kingdom of God starts off as a mustard seed that becomes a great tree.

I get Jesus’ point: these unlikely mini, specky things are so packed with genetic amino all you need is to prepare the soil, and cast them on it.

You’ve got to care, you’ve got to believe this, you have to act, sow baby, sow!

Do these old spuds look like they’ll have healthy offspring? Hardly . Do I know I’ll have a bounteous harvest? I do not. But it’s happened before, so I trust they can do it again.

Referring to the war in the Holy Land: But you can hope that into that bloody dust of grief and desperation the ‘logoi spermatokoi’ (seeds of the Word) have blown in on a gust of wind or on the back legs of a bee, and are ready to germinate.

It’s happened before, and it can happen again…
