Feast Of The Assumption – August 15th

In order to grasp the Assumption of Mary we have to revisit the beginning ,” Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let what you have said be done to me” (Luke 1:38). In this moment of missionary outreach Mary initiates the incarnation of God’s love in time, in Jesus the Christ.

The total and unreserved response of Mary to give love in return for love, to carry the pain of humanity, to become the global embrace of Christ, gives the fullest expression to the Christian mission.

With Mary we learn that Christ continues to be born in us and through us, and in this unity of divine and human spirit, all time moves into eternal time and creation groans with longing in the great act of giving birth.

Mary let God… She brings to the history of Earth and Heaven the centrality of trust in divine providence and the wonder of motherhood. In her simplicity and trust Mary reveals the potential we carry to be hope and compassion at the heart of the universe.

God broke into human history through an unknown woman from an unknown village and the birthing of love continues in ever time, from hearts that hear the voice and open the door.

As we reflect on the Assumption of Mary the pathway to the fullness of life opens before us, revealing the purpose, marking the roadmap.

Behold you Mother
