Good News From Kenya

The recent visit in August 2023 of Sisters Marie Louise White and Cait O’Dwyer to the Kenyan Province brought great joy as it marked the end of the mandate of the Dicastery and the return of the autonomy of the province.

It was a wonderful moment for the province of Kenya, when all membership was invited to pray and to listen, to rededicate  and to pledge to their new beginnings. We were encouraged to remember the past with gratitude and to embrace the present as well as the future with joy, hope and with positive energy.

Marie Louise and Cait – CLT – who were with us during this important step were a great support, encouraging  and inspiring us. They led us in reflecting on our journey in the Kenyan province since 2017 when the first pontifical commissary was appointed. As we reflected on Luke 24: 13-32 – the two disciples on their way to Emmaus, we felt we had made a journey through our own moments of desolation and we heard the invitation to see the experience in a new way – as a time of renewal and growth, taking us into the future with a sense of confidence and joy.

This special occasion offered an opportunity to express deep gratitude to the outgoing leadership team for their dedication, commitment to leadership, and for guiding the province over the last four years:

It was also the day to welcome the new Provincial Leadership Team:

Sr. Theresia Waraga – Provincial Leader

Sr. Felistas Kingori

Sr. Virginia Kasai

Sr. Maria Ngui

The new team was welcomed ceremoniously and handed a lighted candle and a Masai Shuka as a sign of the leadership they were undertaking.

With great joy this memorable day ended with the celebration of Eucharist and special blessings upon the new team. It was a very emotional experience. The celebrant invited us to take our responsibility and witness to Christ by making peace with our crosses and to learn to grow with faith.

We thank all our Sisters in the congregation who accompanied us in prayer through these years. With the help of God we now continue with the journey towards living our charism and heritage.
