The devastating earthquake of February 6th in Southern Turkey and Northern Syria has broken lives and hearts. The death toll is nearing fifty thousand people brings silence to our words. It is destruction, suffering and pain of an intense and overwhelming proportion. Commentators have described the disaster as “another martyrdom” for Syria.

We reach out to the people of Syria and Turkey with the support of our prayer, with the solidarity of our support.

We remember also the helpers, volunteers, NGOs who work tirelessly to ease the cry of bewilderment and fear.

May our prayer rise before you like incense O God
May the cry of our hearts reach your heart
May the suffering of our sisters and brothers be healed
May the hope of a new day fill the landscape of devastation.
