Roses And Violets

The Month of October is a photograph of great beauty. In the falling leaves of Autumn and in the new buds of Spring we see the artwork that only diversity can paint. Without the diversity, we would miss the wonder.

The splendour of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.         (Therese of Lisieux)

The insightful quote from Therese of Lisieux invites us to engage with diversity and the opportunities it offers. In the world of our time the pressure is on “to prove ourselves” and we frequently miss that it is in our diversity that we find ourselves.

What Diversity Isn’t
In this article Geetika Tripathi looks at common mistakes in our understanding of diversity.

Diversity for the Sake of Diversity, the author says is a flawed methodology. The trying to look good mentality, will not implement diversity and inclusion.

Diversity is all about celebrating differences and using it for strength and purpose.  It should never ever be about sympathy or pity.

Geetika Tripathi understands Diversity as the life- force in an organization. Where Diversity is understood, valued, supported and promoted, an environment of real empathy and respect develops…

Today the language of sustainability is closely aligned with the language of diversity and we are learning that “cultural diversity is a main spring for sustainable development, for individuals, communities and countries.”    (en.unesco.org)
