COVID Melody

Five words danced
In my heart all day!
“It’s going to be alright.”
A dragonfly hovering
Whirred my song
As a seagull alphabet
Winged along.
“It’s going to be alright.”

A Rosebush drenched
In driving Rain
Lifted a bud
To the Soft refrain
And Raindrops scribbled
My Window-pane,
“It’s going to be alright.”

 And swallows dipping
O’er ears of wheat,
Their feathers soaring
To keep the beat,
And dry leaves rustled
Through sunbeam heat
“It’s going to be alright.”

 And Waves of the Ocean
Thundered on,
As sand in the dunes
Danced a freedom song
And even the shadows
Strummed along
“It’s going to be alright.”

So whenever you see
A bird or bee,
Or hear Raindrops
Dripping beneath a Tree
Remember the
Covid Melody
“It’s going to be alright.”
