MECPATHS And World Day Against Trafficking In Persons

MECPATHS marked The United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30th, 2020 to encourage the voice of victims of Trafficking to be kept alive while we still find ourselves amidst a global pandemic.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Helen Chu with Ann Mara from MECFPATHS

The occasion moved online this year with the support of Cork Against Human Trafficking with many new and renewed offerings of support for our work. In Dublin. Ann Mara met with Dublin City Lord Mayor Hazel Chu to draw her attention to the challenges that exist in Ireland concerning victim identification and support, and in Cork JP met with Cork City Lord Mayor Joe Kavanagh to echo the message. The day followed the recent publication of The US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons Report which saw Ireland’s Anti-Trafficking efforts come under a spotlight and the only European country along with Romania to be moved to a Tier-2 watch list.

While the global pandemic continues, we encourage each of you to continue the many conversations you are having about Human Trafficking and to engage with the congregational awareness work that many sisters are undertaking in each province in Ireland.  More information from Patricia@mecpaths.com
