Bishop William Crean presented the Benemerenti Medal to Sr. Philomena Sweetnam at a Eucharistic celebration at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Kanturk on February 24th. Canon Toby Bluitt, Canon Jackie Corkery, Fr. John Magner and Fr. David Kenneally concelebrated with the Bishop.

Benemerenti Medal

The medal was in honour of twenty eight years of service as Sacristan in the Church in Kanturk.

Sr. Philomena was joined by family, Sisters of Mercy and friends. It was an uplifting occasion which included a meal in Scoil Mhuire hall where there was great reminiscing, fun and laughter.

 It was a fitting tribute to a woman of loyal and faithful service given with joy.
