The Children’s Grief Centre in Limerick have been chosen as finalists in the National Lottery Good Causes Award – Youth Section.
500 entrants in each of the 6 groups – Community, Arts & Culture, Health & Wellbeing, Sports & Recreation, Youth and Heritage were reduced to 36 in each group. 6 were then chosen in each group to appear in front of a panel made of 2 National Lottery officials, Nuala Carey (Weather Presenter) and Bobby Kerr (Dragons Den). Each entrant had to give a pitch and then answer questions from the panel. The Children’s Grief Centre were chosen to represent the South-West region under the Youth section.
The winners of each category will win 10,000 euros and the overall winner will receive 25,000 euros. Winners will be announced at a Black Tie Gala Dinner to take place in the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin on the 3rd November.
Virgin TV came to the centre and filmed a piece to be shown on Ireland AM on Thursday 1st November between 7am and 10.30am. Two of the centre’s teenagers, two of the parents, Helen and one of her support workers were filmed for it.
The final piece including the announcement of the winners will be shown on Virgin TV on Sunday, 11th November at 9pm. Please tune in and watch.
