Sisters Of Mercy Lead Evening Prayer In Clarendon Street, Dublin

It was a cold, wet, windy evening in December.  Despite the inclement weather, many Sisters of Mercy braved the elements and came to St. Teresa’s Carmelite Church, Clarendon Street, Dublin to participate in the Evening Prayer, organised and led by Sisters of Mercy.  This initiative is to mark the Year of Consecrated Life, which began in Advent and continues throughout 2015.

St. Teresa’s Church, Clarendon St. has a special place in the hearts of Sisters of Mercy all over the world, as the first thirteen Sisters of Mercy who died, are buried in the crypt.

The Evening Prayer commenced with an introduction by Sr. Sior Cosgrove, who went on to give a brief outline of the life of Catherine McAuley.  As part of the prayer which followed, the Suscipe of Catherine McAuley was sung with great feeling by the Sisters of Mercy present.  Among the assembled congregation was Michael O’Sullivan, a Mercy Associate from Brisbane, Australia who is visiting Baggot Street at present.

The prayer leaflets had been prepared by the Sisters of Mercy in Dublin and this ensured that all present could participate to the fullest.
