Galilee Spirituality Centre

Galilee Community is an initiative of the Sisters of Mercy of the Western Province. The core community, consisting of three Sisters of Mercy, invite people of all Christian denominations to join them for prayer and community.

Their vision is to create and visibly witness to an open Gospel based form of community, and to invite others to connect with the core group to form an extended community in search of new and creative ways of responding to the spiritual hunger of our time.

Many modern day authors writing in the area of spirituality and Religious Life claim that the need for connectedness and prayer are among the basic hungers of our culture. In response, the Galilee Centre strives to build a form of community life, characterised by hospitality, openness, flexibility and constant awareness of emerging needs.

People seeking personal transformation or just quiet time from the pace and pressures of life are invited to an environment of hospitality and prayer in the midst of the natural beauty of woodlands, lakes and mountains.

Quiet Garden

Our Programmes

Pastoral
We partner with groups who share particular experiences and come for nourishment and support.

Faith Exploration
We provide opportunities to explore faith and spirituality wherever people find themselves on the journey of life. These take the form of retreats, scripture reading, discussions and talks. We provide training and resources for church groups, and welcome groups who wish to use the centre for their own renewal. We welcome groups with an ecumenical dimension.

Ministry
We hold regular programmes of pastoral and theological reflection for people who work in Christian ministry.  We hold occasional events relevant to particular areas of ministry.

Environment:
We are committed to increasing our awareness of the climate crisis and to developing a spirituality and lifestyle which supports the environment. We have an annual Climate Conference which addresses environmental issues. The Centre is a member of the Quiet Garden Movement (See our Quiet Garden).

A Community of Prayer
A well as open morning and evening prayer at the Centre, our prayer community extends beyond our walls to anyone who would like to join us. People often get in touch to ask for prayer, and we particularly invite people to pray with us on the last Friday of each month 9.00-10.00pm for our Taizé prayer. You can let us know you are with us by email, on social media or any other way you wish.
