Locust Swarms Hits East Africa

We are keeping watch in prayer with the people of Kenya and East Africa where hundreds of millions of desert locusts are swarming. It is the biggest number seen in more than twenty five years. Once again we are witnessing the fracturing caused by climate change as the unusually wet weather at the end of 2019 has undoubtedly contributed to this life threatening outbreak. The locusts are now destroying crops and threatening food security across the region. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization is requesting international assistance to combat the swarms, and warning of the potential for massive growth in locust numbers if they are left unchecked. The Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya warns of a possible second locust invasion in the next one to two months.

Let us pray with our brothers and sisters in this time of crisis.
