Since Catherine’s time “the comfortable cup of tea” has been at the heart of Mercy symbolising the tradition of house ministry and hospitality. This tradition has been carried on by the many faithful Sisters who have served in this ministry through the years. In every community the kitchen became the life centre where community meals were prepared and served. It was here that Sisters gathered for the proverbial “cuppa”, plans were made, memories were recalled and the day to day happenings discussed and re-told.
While our houses or convents are our homes, we also open our doors and welcome various local groups offering space and refreshments for meetings – Alcoholics Anonymous, parish support, guided prayer, prayer retreats and ecology groups.
