About Us
Mercy Centre is located in the lower ground floor of the Convent of Mercy, Coolock House, Dublin 5.  Coolock House is known worldwide because the Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, Catherine McAuley, lived here for 20 years.  She inherited the property from William and Catherine Callaghan and founded the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy in 1831.

Inspired by the gospel and the vision of Catherine McAuley, the Centre provides an environment of peace and tranquillity where persons from all walks of life are welcomed and find hospitality, spirituality, caring and healing.

The centre can accommodate 30 adults and is non-residential.

Spirituality
We provide a quiet space where people can reflect on the meaning of life and find the God within them.  We offer reflections for Advent, Lent and Easter to Pentecost.  The seasons of the year can also speak to us.

  • Women in the Life of Jesus
  • Women as Prophets and Leaders
  • I will never call their sins to mind

Prayer is a conversation with Jesus about our lives.  There are many ways in which Jesus can speak to us.  Jesus uses nature; lilies of the field, birds of the air etc. in his Gospel stories.  It involves listening and talking or just quietly sitting in his presence.  We invite people to experience different forms of prayer at the Centre.

Justice

“An authentic faith…”always involves a deep desire to change the world, to transmit values, to leave this earth somehow better than we found it”. (The Joy of the Gospel Pope Francis no. 183)

Our Justice Group meet once a month to discuss and lobby on justice issues e.g. the budget, homelessness, refugees, sustainable living and climate change.

Comments From Participants

The atmosphere was perfect for the day and the cups of tea and warm welcome was wonderful.

The Centre has given me a dignity about myself and a better understanding of myself.

I’m grateful to have found the Mercy Centre and thank you for your kindness and support.  A tremendous friendship and support develops among many of us who attend the Centre regularly.

The venue and grounds add a lot. It’s like a little oasis of calm.

I love coming to do courses in Mercy Centre. I get so much peace no matter what course I do.  In this holy place you meet Jesus in many faces and realise through His eyes that each of us is part, a precious part of his band of walking wounded and we are not alone.
