Training of Women

Nchete House was established in 2001 as a training centre for women. It provides training programmes, seminars and workshops related to women’s issues.
Since its inception an average of sixty women per year have followed the Adult Literacy Programme and others have trained in tailoring and craft.
Presently there are three month’s tailoring courses running. These courses are to enable women to earn a living by the use of this skill, learned in the centre.
The centre is maintained by renting the spacious hall for functions and also catering for groups who rent the premises. Outreach programmes to parishes are available on request.
Outreach programmes to parishes are available on request. The centre also provides limited overnight accommodation for people attending seminars.
Organic gardening is also on the programme and women are given allotments during the rainy season to grow their own vegetables.
Outside catering is another service provided by the centre on demand. To encourage the use of locally grown produce, a food fair is held annually and all women’s clubs are encouraged to participate.
