Pride Of Place 2018

The Pride of Place 2018 awards are presented in association with Co-Operation Ireland which acknowledges the work being done every day by communities all over Ireland. The Children’s Grief Centre was nominated in the ‘Communities reaching out initiative’ section of the national awards.  On July 25th 2018, we had an opportunity to showcase our work to the Pride of Place judges, Tom and Alison Dowling along with Brid Burke of Limerick County Council.

On the day, our team gave a comprehensive presentation to the judges describing the work we do at the centre. Among the attendees were representatives from the Board of Management, our ambassador Olive Foley, parents who have availed of our service, volunteers, support workers, friends, Cllr. Daniel Butler and Senator Kieran O’Donnell.  We were also delighted to welcome members of the Mercy Congregation. The goodwill and generosity of the Sisters of Mercy in providing the premises for our services has made a big difference in the lives of children and young people affected by loss. We are sincerely thankful for their continued support.

The day was a tremendous success and we were honoured to be told by Patricia Liddy, a Director of Service at Limerick City and County Council that we had “represented Limerick in an exemplary fashion.”  We are now looking forward to attending the IPB Pride of Place awards in Cork City Hall on November 17th where the overall winner will be announced. Regardless of the outcome we will celebrate our work together as a team.
